چکیده

The phase diagram of the copper-oxide chain as a function of density and the nearest-neighbour Coulomb interaction, V , is determined. Phase separation takes place above a critical value of V when the Cu 2+ → Cu + valence fluctuations dominate. In the proximity of the phase separation boundary the superconducting correlations are the most divergent. We identify the parameter regions where the Luttinger Liquid theory applies and calculate the contours of the charge-charge correlation exponent K ρ. We show that anomalous flux quantization occurs as K ρ diverges. At n = 1, for V > t, a gap opens in the spectrum and the ground state is a charge-density wave.

Models of strongly correlated electrons that tend to phase separate are studied including a long-range 1/r repulsive interaction. It is observed that charge-density-wave states become stable as the strength of the 1/r term, V coul , is increased. Due to this effect, the domain of stability of the supercon-ducting phases that appear near phase separation at V coul = 0 is not enlarged by a 1/r in...

We study the properties of the phase transition in three dimensional U(1)+Higgs theory or Ginzburg-Landau model of superconductivity. Special attention is paid to large values of scalar self coupling (Type II superconductors), where the nature of the transition is unclear. We present some evidence for an unusual transition in this regime.

We consider the effect of weak nonmagnetic disorder on two chains of interacting fermions (with and without spins) coupled by interchain hopping. For the spinless case, interchain hopping increases localization for repulsive interactions but stabilizes the s-wave superconducting phase for attractive interactions. For the case with spin, the d-wave phase arising from purely repulsive interaction...

The effects of the nearest neighbour Coulomb repulsion, V , are considered in the one dimensional copper-oxide chain using the modified Lanczos method. Above a critical value of V we find that charge transfer excitons are the lowest lying energy exitations in the insulating phase. Close to the metal-insulator transition and V = 0 there is good 'particle-hole' symmetry, showing that the mapping ...

A theory for the high temperature superconductors is proposed. Holes are spin-1/2, charge e, quasiparticles strongly dressed by spin fluctuations. Based on their dispersion, it is claimed that the experimentally observed van Hove singularities of the cuprates are likely originated by antiferromagnetic (AF) correlations. From the two carriers problem in the 2D t-J model, an effective Hamiltonian...
